The European Parliament's plenary session formally adopted on 6 April 2017 the informal agreement with the Council of the European Union allowing for Ukrainian citizens to be exempted from EU short-stay visa requirements.

The proposal was put forward by the European Commission in April 2016. The informal agreement was reached in February 2017.
