The European Parliament's vice president Ryszard Czarnecki announced on 12 May 2016 during the plenary session that the president had received a motion of on the European Commission, signed by the necessary number of MEPs, saying that the European Commission had failed to comply with its legal obligation to publish scientific criteria for defining endocrine disruptors. However, it was later announced that 16 MEPs had withdrawn their signatures from the motion, forcing the closure of the procedure. The Council of the European Union had discussed the topic on 4 March. Media reports suggested the European Commission might offer defining criteria on hormone disruptors by June. |
