The European Parliament's committee of inquiry into emission measurement in the automotive sector (EMIS), published on 19 December 2016 its draft report, following a period of 10 months of work to reconstruct the events and collect evidence regarding the car emission test cheating scandal. The report shows evidence of law enforcement shortcomings in member states as regards car emissions. The committee planned four more hearings for January 2017, with further activities focusing on negotiating the amendments to the conclusions of the report and to the draft recommendations. The draft text was scheduled to be puot to committee vote in February and plenary vote in April. The committee's constituent meeting was held on 2 March 2016. |
