Results and analysis from the general election held in the United Kingdom on the 7 May 2015.

The Conservative Party and the SNP were the victors in the election, with significant losses for the Labour Party and the Liberal Democrats, and disappointing results for UKIP in terms of seats won. The leaders of these three parties, Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg and Nigel Farrage all resigned.

Commentators predicted that the result would lead to the inevitable holding of a referendum on the UK's membership of the EU in 2017. The results could also have an impact on Scotland's relationship within the UK.
