Warsaw prosecutor's office said on the 18 June 2014 that Polish prosecutors had searched the offices of the magazine Wprost during the day, after the magazine published tapes of officials' conversations embarrassing to the government. Poland's prime minister Donald Tusk said that snap elections might be the only way out of the political scandal sparked by this publication. OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatović expressed her concern about attempts by law enforcement in Poland to confiscate materials and force journalists to reveal confidential sources. In subsequent disclosures Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, was caught up in the affair. Poland's coalition government won a parliamentary vote of confidence sparked by the scandal on the 25 July 2014, and another one on the 11 July 2014. |
