Summary: On 22 November 2017 the European Commission presented a proposal for a Council Decision setting out guidelines for the employment policies of the Member States. The Council of the European Union adopted the Decision on 16 July 2018. Further information: The proposal was put forward in the framework of the 2018 European Semester. These guidelines present common priorities and targets for the national employment policies and provide the basis for country-specific recommendations (CSRs). The proposal aligns the text with the principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights. The resulting set of coordinated European and national policies and reforms are to constitute an appropriate overall economic and social policy mix which should achieve positive spill-over effects. |
