The Danish prime minister, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, met members of a new association called 'Democratic Muslims', 13 February 2006, in a fresh effort to defuse the Muhammad cartoons row.

In February 2008 Danish police arrested three people suspected of planning to attack a cartoonist who drew caricatures satirising the Prophet Muhammad. Many Danish newspapers and a Swedish paper reprinted caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed. The republication was to protest a plot to murder one of the cartoonists.
