Danish PM postpones EU referendum

At the launch of the new parliamentary session in Denmark on the 7 October 2014 Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt called for a referendum on Denmark’s opt-out to the European Union’s justice and home affairs rules.

The government was ready to commit itself to a referendum after the next election (which had to be held before September 2015).
