On 11 October 2016 the Council of the European Union published the conclusions reached on tax transparency right after a Council ECOFIN meeting was held.

Improving tax certainty in the EU could contribute to further rise the competitiveness of EU businesses along with fighting Base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) and tax avoidance.
