Background: This report identifies member states for which in-depth reviews (IDRs) should be undertaken to assess whether they are affected by imbalances in need of policy action. It is published at the start of each annual cycle of economic policy coordination. The 2017 European Semester was launched in November 2016. The set of conclusions was released following a meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council on 27 January 2017. The Council of the European Union released on 27 January 2017 a set of conclusions regarding the sixth Alert Mechanism Report, which marked the starting point of the annual round of the Macroeconomic Imbalance Procedure in the context of the 2017 European Semester. |
