Competitiveness Council, 26-27 May 2016

A meeting of the Competitiveness Council was held on 26-27 May 2016. The agenda included the following items:

+ Adoption of its position on cross-border portability of online content services in the internal market;

+ Discussion on the progress made on the digital single market strategy;

+ Adoption of conclusions regarding tecnologies and modernisation of public services;

+ Exchange of views on the impact of digitalisation on productivity of the services sector, through the competitiveness check-up process;

+ Debate on better regulation as a way to strengthen competitiveness;

+ Information on the state of play on a proposal aimed at reviewing the posting of workers directive;

+ Debate on open science, after which the Council was expected to adopt conclusion on the transition towards an open science system;

+ Conclusions on the 7th research framework programme and on the creation of a friendly regulatory environment for research and innovation;

+ Formal adoption of a directive protecting trade secrets.
