A meeting of the Competitiveness Council was held on 1 October 2015. The agenda includes the following topics:

+ Discussion on urgent micro-economic issues;

+ Debate on how to maximise European added-value through the removal of barriers to the single market;

+ Discussion on the reform of the EU's Emmissions Trading System (EU ETS);

+ Launch of a working method denominated 'Competitiveness check-up', followed by a discussion on the need for clearer and more consistent EU rules to boost business activity and on competitiveness mainstreaming.

+ Debate on the developments concerning the automotive sector as regards controls of air pollutant car emissions;

+ Adoption, without discussion, of several documents: sanctions against individuals in Burundi; conclusion of free trade agreement with South Korea; appointment of EESC members; adoption of proposal on roaming and open internet; EU ban on seal products; endorsement of protocol on trade facilitation.
