The European Commission launched a platform on 9 January 2016 aimed at helping consumers air their grievances with e-commerce platforms without paying hefty legal fees.

The Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform was scheduled to be up for use on 15 February 2016 for consumers or traders to lodge complaints about online purchases from companies operating domestically or in other EU countries.

The EC had announced in December 2015 new digital contract rules to boost sales for online businesses.
