Commission extends the application date of the PRIIPs Regulation by one year

The European Commission proposed on 9 November 2016 an extension to the date of application of the Regulation on Key Information Documents for Packaged Retail and Insurance-based Investment Products (PRIIPs).

The Commission engaged in work with the three European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs) to resubmit the revised Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS). The aim was to meet some of the concerns raised by the European Parliament, while not compromising the balance previously achieved.

The European Parliament's plenary session approved the delay on 1 December.
