Cautious welcome for Berlusconi reform plans

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi set out a long-awaited plan for economic reform for Italy that received a cautious welcome from the European Union summit on the 26 October 2011. However, the commitments fall short of what the business community and analysts said were needed while doubts persisted over the government’s ability to carry them through.
