EUObserver and other news sources reported that the German Parliament on 19 July 2012 approved a bailout for the Spanish banking sector of up to €100 billion.

Eurozone finance ministers were set to iron out the final details of the bailout for Spain on the 20 July 2012, just as tens of thousands Spaniards took to the streets on the 19 July 2012 in protest against fresh spending cuts.
