Blair named in race to be EU president

Article reports that Tony Blair was announced on the 15 July 2009 as Britain's official candidate to become the European Union's new president, even though he has not confirmed he wants the job and the post has yet to be created. The post will only be created if the Lisbon Treaty is ratified by all EU states and comes into force.
