Berlusconi announces mafia crackdown

Silvio Berlusconi, Italy's centre-right Prime Minister, y launched a controversial ten-point plan to combat the growing menace of Italy’s mafia organisations, January 2010, taking particular aim against Calabria’s ‘Ndrangheta which has a grip on the transatlantic trade in cocaine.

Italy will put together all current laws against organised crime and set up a national agency to oversee seizures of assets from the Mob.
