Ashton presents new architecture for EU diplomatic service

EurActiv reports that Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, presented a revised blueprint for the European External Action Service (EEAS) to EU Ambassadors in April 2010.

At the General Affairs Council, Luxembourg, 26 April 2010 EU Foreign Ministers reached a political orientation on the draft decision on the establishment of the European External Action Service. The orientation will provide the basis for consulting the European Parliament, which is very critical of the structure agreed by the Council.
