Anti-Islamist PEGIDA rally in Dresden called off after threat

The anti-immigration group PEGIDA cancelled plans for a rally in Dresden on the 19 January 2015, seemingly after threats against the main organizer, Lutz Bachmann. This followed considerable international attention on the group.

German police arrested two people in Berlin on the 16 January 2015 following raids on numerous properties linked to radical Islamic Salafists. The searches began shortly after Belgium police had killed two men in a similar police operation.
