Agriculture and Fisheries Council, 10 October 2016

A meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council was held on 10 October 2016. The agenda included the following topics:

+ Agreement on the fishing opportunities in the Baltic Sea for 2017;

+ Exchange of views on the EU-Norway annual consultation in the framework of their bilateral fisheries agreement;

+ Discussion on the annual meeting of ICCAT (International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas), taking place on 14-21 November;

+ Presentation by the European Commission of its Omnibus proposal and the impact on the main regulations of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), followed by an exchange of views;

+ Endorsement of an agreement on working conditions for fishermen;

+ Debate on several different topics, including the market situation, sugar and the greening of the CAP.
