The Council of the European Union's Permanent Representative Committee endorsed a decision to provide €200 million in macro-financial assistance to Jordan. The assistance package aims to support the country's economic stabilisation and its reform agenda. It will be subject to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to be agreed between Jordan and the European Commission. This relates to economic performance, but also to respect for democracy and human rights. The financial package was informally agreed between the Council and the European Parliament on 27 October. The Commission had first proposed it on 29 June. |
