The European Parliament's plenary session adopted on 2 February 2017 a set of resolutions on the political situation in Gabon and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Members of the Parliament questioned the legitimacy of Gabon's president following the election held in 2016 which they considered to be 'non-transparent' and 'doubtful'.

Another resolution urges political players in the DRC to engage in a constructive dialogue and calls on the EU to support the implementation of the agreement reached in late December 2016 denying a third term to the country's president.
