The Council of the European Union adopted on 27 February 2017 a proposal to allow for visa liberalisation between Georgia and the European Union. The proposal was put forward by the European Commission in March 2016. The Parliament and the Council of the European Union reached an informal agreement on a compromise text in December. The Parliament formally adopted it on 2 February 2017. The Council's committee of representatives had already endorsed it in December 2016. |
