The Council of the European Union discussed on 6 February 2017 and released a set a conclusions regarding the situation in Libya.

Ministers reaffirmed the commitment to support an inclusive political settlment under the framework of the Libyan Political Agreement (LPA) and to support the Presidency Council and the Government of National Accord. They urged all armed forces to remain under the control of the legitimate civilian authorities, to ensure the country's unity and territorial integrity.

The Council also condemned human rights violations and abuses against migrants in Libya and called on the authorities to redouble their efforts to protect the most vulnerable.

The document also ensures that the EU was going to implement a cooperation package worth €120 million.
