Adoption of a non-legislative resolution on the implementation of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP)

The European Parliament's plenary session adopted on 14 December 2016 a non-legislative resolution urging diplomacy, development and defence to be the pillars of the European Union's foreign policy.

The report advocates a more realistic strategy on Russia and a 'less for less' policy towards countries that try to throw democracy into reverse. MEPs also called on member states to show more unity and trust, and to speak with one voice, so as to make the EU a global player.
