The petition created by the STOP TTIP group against ongoing trade negotiations between the United States and the European Union had already gathered over 1 million signatures, according to BBC News on 4 December 2014.

The petition calls on the EU and its member states to stop the talks on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). It also says they should not ratify a similar deal that has already been done between the EU and Canada.

It defends that some aspects pose a threat to democracy and the rule of law.
