The European Commission published its 2012 Consumer Markets Scoreboard in December 2012, tracking consumer conditions in 51 markets, accounting for around 60% of the household expenditure. EU consumers expressed once again their dissatisfaction with the performance of some key services markets. Banking, telecom and energy services scored particularly low. Markets for investment products, mortgages and real estate services stayed at rock bottom for the third year in a row. Goods markets appeared to do better in living up to customers’ expectations, in spite of poor results scored by the automotive, clothing and meat markets. The previous Scoreboard had been released in October 2011. |
